    Matthew’s career in automotive started as a porter working for a local new car dealership in the late 90’s. The dealership is where Matthew learned how to prep new and used cars for sale, this was where he first learned how to wet sand OEM paint and operate a rotary polisher.

    Seven years later, Matthew left the car dealership and began selling professional detailing supplies and equipment in Chicagoland. Matthew’s time spent as a sales professional has allowed for deeper understanding of the car wash and detailing industry. After his long career in sales, Matthew decided to leave the corporate world and chase his passion for quality and excellence.

    Technical Director

    David Patterson, is an autom enthusiast who has transformed his love for cars into a thriving career. Since 2003, David has been immersed in the world of collision repair and automotive refinishing, gaining experience in body shops and dealership detailing.

    Inspired by his passion, he founded Perfect Shine Detailing, where he honed his skills on custom-built, rare, and vintage vehicles. David's expertise extends beyond hands-on work as he contributed to the development of products and secured multiple patents. With a focus on achieving impeccable finishes for high-level show cars, his dedication has led to remarkable achievements, including detailing for prestigious events like Barret Jackson and Gooding & Company Auction.

  • The cost of the Gloss Universities Consultations is based on total days spent with the dealer group or network. That cannot be determined until a site visit is scheduled to determine overall scope of current challenges and goals.

  • Gloss University's team of experts accommodates one store at a time and all training programs are customized to meet the current challenges or issues each store is dealing with separately.

  • Matthew Arendt (Director Of Training) and David Patterson (Technical Director) are generally the lead instructors for in house training. Eron Knox (Creative Director) and Jason Killmer (Project Manager) assist with larger groups of employees for longer scope training and also work with Dealer groups in their territory.

  • Yes, Gloss University will schedule a 90-120 days to follow up with the dealer network and help access progress.

  • Yes, You will have access to the Gloss University Alumni Team to help answer any questions or troubleshoot any problems that arise post training.
