Over three full days, students will work as a small group on a custom Chrysler SRT featuring a recently refinished aftermarket paint system, learning how to safely level, refine, and correct premium paint at a professional level.
Class Schedule & Arrival
Class Time:
Day 1: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Day 2: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM Extended as needed
Day 3: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM

What You’ll Be Working On
The subject vehicle for this class is a Chrysler SRT that has recently undergone extensive paintwork and refinishing. Featuring an aftermarket paint system with multiple layers of clear coat, this vehicle provides an ideal platform for teaching advanced sanding and refinement techniques commonly used in restoration, custom paint, and high-end correction work.
Throughout the weekend, students will participate in the complete finishing process, following the vehicle from texture reduction and surface leveling through final paint correction and refinement.
Training Breakdown
Day 1 – Theory, Tools & First-Stage Sanding
The class begins with a strong technical foundation before moving into hands-on work.
Morning Session:
Paint system evaluation and inspection
Understanding aftermarket paint systems
Sandpaper types, grit selection, and sanding blocks
Hard blocks vs. foam blocks and proper use cases
Live Q&A to prepare for hands-on sanding
Afternoon Session:
Surface mapping and defect identification
Begin the first stage of sanding as a group
Learn proper technique, pressure control, and surface evaluation
Day 2 – Advanced Sanding & Texture Reduction
Sanding work continues throughout the day with a focus on:
Multi-stage sanding progression
Dry sanding vs. wet sanding
Reading scratch patterns and surface texture
Texture reduction and leveling techniques
Understanding how different grits behave in real-world conditions
Due to the labor-intensive nature of advanced wet sanding, Day 2 may extend beyond the scheduled end time to ensure each stage of the process is completed correctly without rushing.
Following the conclusion of Day 2, students will head to a group dinner, providing an opportunity to relax, discuss the day's work, and continue learning in a more informal setting.
Day 3 – Paint Correction & Final Refinement
The final day transitions into correcting and refining the sanded surface.
Topics include:
Rotary polishing fundamentals and benefits
Wool vs. foam pads and their roles in correction
Compounding and refinement strategies
Technique, pressure, and cycle time management
Lighting and inspection methods
Achieving maximum gloss, clarity, and finish quality
Students will experience firsthand how proper sanding creates the foundation for efficient correction and show-quality results.
Important Class Disclaimer
This is not a beginner-level class.
Students must have prior experience with machine polishing and feel confident operating polishing equipment. No sanding experience is required; however, a solid understanding of paint correction fundamentals is expected.
Why This Training Is Different
Limited to just 4 students for maximum hands-on experience
Work on a real Chrysler SRT with a custom aftermarket paint system
Follow a complete sanding and correction process from start to finish
Advanced techniques rarely taught in group settings
Focused on precision, process control, and professional execution
Whether your goal is to improve your restoration work, expand your paint correction capabilities, or gain confidence in advanced sanding techniques, this class is designed to provide real-world experience that can immediately be applied to client vehicles.
